Bee Guardianship

Why bee guardianship instead of beekeeping? The definition of a guardian is one who guards, protects, and preserves. Simply keeping bees is no longer an option.
Myseeliabee focuses on a deeper listening and practices bee-centric techniques with the bees in mind first, instead of profit and control. As the old saying goes, “insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results”. What has worked in the past when it comes to keeping bees, no longer seems to be the best option.
Bee guardianship extends beyond the most commonly known honey bee, Apis Mellifera, to the hundreds of local native pollinators we have in the state of Minnesota and worldwide. There are many deeply rooted beliefs that are systemically held and integrated into our culture that are no longer serving the highest and greatest good of the planet, humanity and our pollinator friends.

Swarm Rescue

A swarm is the natural reproductive method of a colony of honeybees. If you see a swarm in the central Minnesota area, let them bee and get in touch with your local feral beekeeper (me) as soon as possible! They are very docile while swarming and will likely only be in one spot for a short period of time, so please do not hesitate to reach out if you find one.

  • It is always possible, but very unlikely, especially if they are left undisturbed. While swarming, the main goal of the colony is to protect the queen and send out scout bees to find a new home. Consider it a blessing from the bees and admire the miracle from afar if you do not have experience with honeybees.

  • Nope! We are happy to help and will provide the bees with a home that is suited to their needs!
